Normal Vehicle Use
These schedules are for vehicles that:
• | Carry passengers and cargo within recommended limits. These limits
are listed on the vehicles tire loading information label located on the drivers
door. |
• | Are driven on reasonable road surfaces within legal driving limits. |
• | Use the recommended fuel. |
Selecting the Right Maintenance Schedule
Determine which of the two schedules is right for this vehicle. Refer
to the definitions of maintenance schedules below.
Important: Additional maintenance recommendations are in this subsection. Also
refer to
Owner Checks and Services
,
Inspections and Other Services
,
Periodic Maintenance Inspection
.
Short Trip/City Maintenance Definition
Follow the Short Trip/City Maintenance Schedule if any one of these
conditions is true for the vehicle:
• | Most trips are less than 8 to 16 km (5 to 10 mi). This
is particularly important when outside temperatures are below freezing. |
• | Most trips include extensive idling (such as frequent driving
in stop-and-go traffic). |
• | Most trips are through dusty areas. |
• | The vehicle is used to frequently tow a trailer or a carrier is
used on top of the vehicle. |
• | If the vehicle is used for delivery service, police, taxi or other
commercial application. |
Long Trip/Highway Maintenance Definition
Follow this maintenance schedule only if none of the conditions from
the Short Trip/City Maintenance Schedule is true.
Normal Vehicle Use
The maintenance instructions are based on the assumption that the vehicle
will be used as designed:
• | To carry passengers and cargo within the recommended limitations. |
| The limitations are indicated on the vehicle's Tire-Loading information
label. |
• | On reasonable road surfaces within legal driving limits. |
• | With the recommended fuel. |
Maintenance Schedule Intervals
The schedule lists maintenance procedures for intervals up to 166 000
kilometers (100,000 miles). Repeat the maintenance procedures at the
same intervals after 166 000 kilometers (100,000 miles).
Repeat the maintenance procedure that is required at 240 000
km (150,000 miles) after another interval of 240 000 km (150,000 miles).
For a full explanation of the maintenance procedures and inspections
indicated in this schedule, refer to
Explanation of Scheduled Services
.
Notes
[Delta ] The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency or the California Air
Resources Board has determined that failure to perform this maintenance item
will not nullify the emissions warranty nor limit recall liability
prior to the completion of the vehicle's useful life. We, however,
urge that ALL recommended maintenance services be performed and
recorded at the indicated proper intervals.
# Failure to follow the maintenance procedure as described may result
in a broken timing belt and cause severe engine damage. It is important to
use only genuine GM parts when replacing the timing belt. Refer
to
Timing Belt Replacement
+ A good time to check the brakes is during a tire rotation. Refer to
Explanation of Scheduled Services
