Was the Instrument Cluster Diagnostic System Check performed?

  1. Install the scan tool.
  2. Select SPECIAL FUNCTIONS from the INSTRUMENT CLUSTER menu.
  3. Command the speedometer gauge from 140 mph to 0 mph and then back again.

Does the gauge needle respond when commanded?

Check for PCM DTC P0500.

Is a current DTC P0500 set?

Go to Powertrain On Board Diagnostic (OBD) System Check in Engine Controls

Go to Step 5

Replace the instrument cluster.

Is the replacement complete?

Check the vehicle speed circuit between the Electronic Brake/Traction Control Module (EBTCM) and the instrument cluster for an open or short to ground.

Was a circuit problem found and repaired?

Go to Step 7

Repair an open between the IPC and S222.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Connect all connectors and components that were removed in previous steps.
  2. Verify that the speedometer operates properly.

Does the speedometer operate properly?
