J 26234 Seal Installer
Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Remove the wheel drive shaft. Refer to
Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement
in Wheel Drive Shafts.
Important: Do not damage the differential housing or the differential carrier side
bearing outer race.
- Remove the seal from the differential using a suitable tool.
- Inspect the sealing surface (1)
of the wheel drive shaft.
- Remove any nicks or burrs with a crocus cloth.
If any imperfections cannot be removed by light polishing, the wheel
drive shaft should be replaced.
Installation Procedure
- Lubricate the lip of the new seal with rear axle lubricant.
- Use the J 26234
in order to install the oil seal (1).
- Install the wheel drive shaft. Refer to
Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement
in Wheel Drive Shafts.
- Inspect and fill the lubricant as necessary. Refer to
Lubricant Level Check
