The Winter mode enables the transmission to start the vehicle
moving in third gear. Third gear take-off reduces the torque applied to the
rear wheels, which reduces wheelspin during slippery conditions. The Winter
mode can be activated only if all of the following conditions are met:
• | The transmission control must be in Drive (D). |
• | The vehicle speed must be below 45 Km/h (28 mph). |
• | The transmission fluid temperature must be below 130° C
(266° F). |
To activate the Winter mode, press the Winter mode switch located next
to the transmission selector lever. The snowflake icon will illuminate brightly.
The Winter mode will be deactivated by any one of the following:
• | The transmission control is placed in a lower gear than Drive
(D). |
• | The TP angle exceeds 30 percent for three seconds while
the vehicle speed is greater than 40 Km/h (25 mph). |
• | The TP angle exceeds 50 percent for three seconds
while the vehicle speed is greater than 63 Km/h (39 mph). |
• | The TP angle is 100 percent for three seconds while
the vehicle speed is greater than 110 Km/h (69 mph). |
• | The transmission fluid temperature rises above 140°C (284°F). |
• | Pressing the Winter mode switch again. |
• | The kickdown switch is activated. |
The snowflake icon will illuminate dimly when the ignition is ON and
the Winter mode is inactive.
