- Turn the steering wheel
so that the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead.
- Turn OFF the ignition.
- Remove the key from the ignition switch.
Important: Power for the SIR system is fed directly through the ignition switch.
The key must remain removed until all SIR system disabling procedures have
been performed. After the SIR system is disabled, the key may be inserted
into the igntion switch and be turned to the ON position to perfrom diagnostic
procedure.
- Remove the two TORX® screws from the back of the steering
wheel.
- Remove the inflatable restraint steering wheel module from the
steering wheel.
- Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the inflatable
restraint steering wheel module 2-way connector.
- Disconnect the inflatable restraint steering wheel module 2-way
connector.
- Remove the inflatable
restraint IP module cover. Refer to
SIR Module Cover Replacement
in Instrument Panel, Gauges, and
Console.
- Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) from the IP module
connector.
- Disconnect the IP module connector (1).
- Remove the LH outer seat track cover.
- Disconnect the seat belt pretensioner - LF connector from connector
C315.
- Remove the CPA from the inflatable restraint side impact module
- LF connector.
- Disconnect the side impact module - LF connector.
- Remove the RH outer seat track cover.
- Disconnect the seat belt pretensioner - RF connector from connector
C316.
- Remove the CPA from the inflatable restraint side impact module
- RF connector.
- Disconnect the side impact module - RF connector.
