Inspect the gap to the quarter panels for the proper alignment with the rear compartment lid closed and with the latch engaged.

The lid is adjustable from its originally installed position. The vertical adjustments are provided by means of elongated holes in the rear compartment lid hinge. The horizontal adjustments are provided by means of elongated holes in the rear compartment lid hinge The rear compartment lid is equipped with two height adjustment bolts on the bottom of the lid. The two height adjustment bolts pivot in and out for alignment.

Prior to performing the latch adjustments properly align the rear compartment lid to the rear compartment opening through the hinge adjustment.

Perform the following steps to adjust the rear compartment lid:

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Loosen the upper hinge nuts (1) and adjust the hinge to the upper lid.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the upper hinge nuts to 29 N·m (21 lb ft).

  3. Loosen the lower hinge bolts (2) on the inside of the hinge and adjust the hinge to quarter panel.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the lower hinge bolts to 29 N·m (21 lb ft).

  5. Adjust the rear compartment lid height adjustment bolt (3).
