Radio Display Turns Off Or Flashes No Audio DTC B1287 - keywords amplifier sound speaker

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Some customers may comment the radio display will become inoperative, there is no audio output from the sound system, or the AM/ FM reception worsens at times. Interrogation of the vehicle with a scan tool will reveal DTC B1287 Amplifier Control Signal Circuit is stored. The cause may be an open or short in the antenna 14v switch supply voltage circuit 5165.

Inspect circuit 5165 for being shorted behind the left Inflatable Restraint Roof Rail Module (1), and for a poor connection at C201 Body Harness to the I/P Harness.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
