Due to a fault code labeling error in the electronic brake control module software (1992 Devilles and Fleetwoods), ABS/TCS fault codes 44 and 48 have been mislabeled as fault codes 43 and 47, respectively. Codes 43 and 47 should simply be treated as codes 44 and 48 when diagnosing a vehicle. The diagnostics in Section 5E1 of the Service Information Manual reflect the correct notation.
There are no ABS/TCS fault codes for noisy wheel speed sensor signals for 1992 Devilles and Fleetwoods. It is not possible for a code 43 or 47 to set and indicate anything other than a traction control isolation valve circuit problem.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
