REAR BRAKE NOISE (REPL. BROKEN PARK BRK. SPRING W/NEW KIT)

SUBJECT: REAR BRAKE NOISE

MODELS AFFECTED: 1992 DE VILLES AND FLEETWOODS

Some 1992 DeVilles and Fleetwoods within VIN range 224271 to 264779 may experience noise in rear brake or increased pedal travel over time.

This condition may be caused by rear parking brake adjuster spring breaking at either attaching point.

To correct this condition install new service spring kit, P/N 18020401. This kit includes springs, actuators, and instructions for both rear brakes. Replace both sides at the same time even if only one is broken.

Parts are currently available from GMSPO.

For warranty purposes use Labor Operation H0297 at .5 hour.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
