Some 1991-1992 DeVilles and Fleetwoods may exhibit a condition of the rear compartment front panel (tulip) being misaligned.
To correct this condition the following procedures should be followed:
To Adjust the Panel Fore/Aft: ---------------------------- Remove the tulip panel and relocate the supports (near glass) to any one of three available mounting slots. Selecting the correct slot will allow movement of the panel approximately lmm in either direction. If greater fore/aft movement is necessary, remove the panel and shave up to 2mm from the lower leg. Remove only enough to allow proper panel alignment. Refer to Figure 1.
To Adjust Up/Down: ----------------- Loosen all attachments, move the panel to the desired location, and tighten. If greater up/down movement is required, remove the panel and replace or reinstall the supports as necessary. Install the panel to desired location. Refer to Figure 1. For warranty purposes use Labor Operation T5240 at .3 hour.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
