This bulletin is being revised to include 1992 models. Please discard Service bulletin T-91-93 issued in June, 1991.
Some 1991-1992 DeVille and Fleetwood rear brake shoes may temporarily freeze to the brake drum when the rear brake shoes are damp and the ambient temperature is 32 F or lower. This condition is more likely to occur after the vehicle has been exposed to a car wash or heavy slush and then is parked for an extended time.
To repair this condition replace both left and right brake shoes with the listed part numbers. The shoes have a lower metallic content and will more easily break loose from the brake drum.
Parts are currently available from GMSPO.
For warranty purposes use Labor Operation H0257 at 1.0 hour.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
