Inspection Procedure
- Inspect the flexible hydraulic
brake hoses which transmit hydraulic pressure from the steel brake pipes
on the body to the calipers and rear crossover pipe annually.
- Check the brake hoses for road hazard damage, cracks, and chafing
of the outer covers, and for leaks and blisters.
A light and mirror may be needed for an adequate inspection.
- Replace the hose if damage is found.
Do not allow brake components to hang from the flexible hoses. Brake
hoses may have protective rings or covers to prevent direct contact of the
hose with other chassis parts. Excessive tension can cause the hose rings
to move out of their proper locations.
