Removal Procedure
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Loosen parking brake cable adjuster to relieve tension on parking
brake cables.
- Lower vehicle.
- Remove I/P sound insulator panel to access lever assembly.
- Pull back carpet to expose parking brake cable.
- Disconnect the front parking
brake cable from lever assembly.
- Disconnect the electrical
connector from the parking brake switch.
Disconnect the vacuum line from the brake release solenoid.
- Remove the parking brake
lever assembly attaching nuts.
Remove the parking brake lever assembly from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install parking brake
lever assembly to the mounting studs.
Install lever attaching nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the parking brake lever nuts to 24N·m (18 lb ft).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Connect the electrical
connector to the parking brake switch.
Connect the vacuum line to the parking brake release solenoid.
- Connect the front parking
brake cable to the lever assembly.
- Reposition carpet.
- Install the I/P sound insulator panel.
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
- Adjust the parking brake.
- Lower the vehicle.
