Removal Procedure
Tools Required
J 39500-B A/C Refrigerant
Recovery, Recycling and Recharging (ACR4) System
- Recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to
Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
in Engine Controls
- 4.0L, 4.6L.
- Remove the compressor
suction hose from the accumulator.
- Remove the compressor discharge hose (1) from the condenser.
- Remove the A/C compressor. Refer to
Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement
.
- Remove the compressor
hose assembly (1) from the vehicle.
Installation Procedure
- Install the compressor
hose assembly (1) to the vehicle.
- Install the A/C compressor. Refer to
Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement
.
- Install the compressor
splash shield (2) and the retainers (1).
- Lower the vehicle.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the compressor
hose to the condenser.
Tighten
Tighten the discharge hose at the condenser to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the compressor hose to the accumulator (1).
Tighten
Tighten the hose at the accumulator to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to
Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement
in Engine Controls
- 4.0L, 4.6L.
- Inspect and refill the engine refrigerant level.
- Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging
.
- Leak test the A/C system. Refer to
Leak Testing
