Removal Procedure

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the console. Refer to Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  3. Remove the instrument panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Assembly Removal in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  4. Remove the air distributor. Refer to Air Distributor Duct Replacement .

  6. Remove the aspirator hose (3).
  7. Remove the antenna lead.
  8. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the fuel filler door and the rear luggage compartment.
  9. At the instrument panel, remove the retaining nuts from the wiring harness conduit. Pull the conduit forward.
  10. Remove the acoustic padding retainers and the other fasteners in the vicinity of the air inlet assembly.

  12. Remove the 5 air inlet mounting screws.
  13. Remove the air inlet assembly.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the air inlet assembly using the 5 screws.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten all of the inlet assembly retaining screws to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  3. Install the acoustic padding retainers while putting the padding back in the original place.
  4. Install all of the other fasteners in the air inlet area.
  5. At the instrument panel, install the retaining nuts to the wiring harness conduit.
  6. Connect the electrical release connectors to the fuel filler door and the rear luggage compartment.
  7. Install the antenna lead.

  10. Install the air distributor assembly. Refer to Air Distributor Duct Replacement .
  11. Install the instrument panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Assembly Removal in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  12. Install the console. Refer to Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  13. Connect the negative battery cable.
