Seat Belt Replacement - Driver or Passenger Eldorado
- Remove the carpet retainer.
Refer to
Carpet Retainer Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Remove the bolt securing the lap retractor to the inner rocker.
- Remove the screw from
the shoulder belt guide loop on the seat back and slip the belt out of the
guide.
- Remove the rear seat back. Refer to
Rear Seat Back Replacement
in Seats.
- Remove the quarter trim panel. Refer to
Rear Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Remove the shoulder belt to the headlining escutcheon.
- Remove the courtesy/reading lamps.
- Lower the rear corner
of the headlining as required to gain access to the roof retractor bolts.

- Remove the bolts and the shoulder belt retractor assembly.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the roof
retractor and bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Install the headliner assembly. Refer to
Headlining Trim Panel Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Install the courtesy/reading lamps.
- Install the shoulder belt to the headlining escutcheon.
- Install the quarter trim panel. Refer to
Rear Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Install the rear seat back. Refer to
Rear Seat Back Replacement
in Seats.
- Install the shoulder belt
into the shoulder belt guide loop.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant

- Install the two screws in order to secure
the shoulder belt guide loop to the seat.
Tighten
Tighten the two screws to 2.0 N·m (18 lb in).
- Install the floor retractor
and the bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 41 N·m (30 lb ft).
- Install the carpet retainer. Refer to
Carpet Retainer Replacement
in Interior Trim.
Seat Belt Replacement - Driver or Passenger DeVille
Removal Procedure
- Remove the body lock pillar trim. Refer to
Body Lock Pillar Trim Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Remove the carpet retainers. Refer to
Carpet Retainer Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Remove the intermediate
guide bracket by removing the three screws.
- Remove the bolt securing
the floor retractor to the rocker inner panel.
- Remove the height adjuster
trim cover by removing the two bolts under the headliner.
- Remove the bolts and the height adjuster guide loop.
Installation Procedure
- Ensure the anti-rotation
tab on the retractor is aligned with the guide hole in the inner rocker.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.

- Install the floor retractor and bolt to the inner rocker panel.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 41 N·m (30 lb ft).
- Install the height adjuster guide loop and bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 41 N·m (30 lb ft).
- Install the height adjuster trim cover and bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 2.0 N·m (18 lb in).
- Install the intermediate
guide bracket with the three screws.
Tighten
Tighten the screws to 6 N·m (53 lb in)
- Install the carpet retainers. Refer to
Carpet Retainer Replacement
in Interior Trim.
- Install the body lock pillar trim. Refer to
Body Lock Pillar Trim Replacement
in Interior Trim.
