Inner Belt Sealing Strip Replacement DeVille

Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:

Caution: In order to prevent SIR deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs, do not strike the door or the door pillar in the area of the side impact sensor (SIS). Turn OFF the ignition and remove the key when performing service in the area of the SIS.

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System .
2. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .



3. Lift upward in order to remove the sealing strip (1).

1. Install the sealing strip (1) by performing the following steps:

1.1.	Locate the front edge of the strip over the door flange.

1.2.	Press down the entire length of the sealing strip (1).

2. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System .
3. Install the door trim panel. Refer to Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .

1. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Door Trim Panel Replacement .



2. Remove the fasteners (3) at the rear edge of the door.
3. Lift upward in order to remove the sealing strip (1).

1. Align the sealing strips (1) to the holes at the rear of the door.
2. Install the 2 fasteners (3) in order to retain the sealing strip (1) at the rear of the door.
3. Install the sealing strip to the door flange by pressing down on the entire length of the sealing strip (1). This action produces a butt joint at the mirror mucket (4).
4. Install the door trim panel. Refer to Door Trim Panel Replacement .
