The driver information center (DIC) in this vehicle is comprised of the following 2 major parts:
• | A driver message center, which is within the IPC |
• | A set of buttons which control the display information on the driver message center |
The bottom portion of the IPC contains a 20 character dot matrix VF display. The VF display is referred to as the driver message center. Use the driver message center in order to display the following 3 types of information:
• | The status messages of driver selectable information |
• | Any warning messages |
• | The vehicle diagnostic system information |
Warning messages are displayed by priority, with the higher priority display messages first. Warning messages may coincide with a DTC being set.
An export ID# accompanies status/warning messages if certain IPC override options set.
Some messages may disable by using the IPC override option settings in the vehicle diagnostic system.
The IPC blanks the parameter values of the messages until the IPC receives valid data from an interacting module.
The IPC displays the parameter values of the messages as dashes if the serial data line or an interacting module are not communicating. A description follows of the button functions for the digital and analog IPCs.
The DIC buttons for the digital IPC are part of the IPC. The buttons are located on the left side of the IPC.
DISPLAY ON/OFF: The DISPLAY ON/OFF button allows the driver to turn a portion of the IPC display off and on. Pressing this button turns off all of the IPC VF displays except for the speedometer, the PRNDL position, and the indicators. Pressing the DISPLAY ON/OFF button a second time turns on all of the displays.• | Certain buttons on the IPC (such as the INFORMATION, RESET, TIMER, CCC or Fuel Data Center buttons) cause only certain areas of the IPC to be turned on. The displays may or may not automatically turn off after a short time. For example, pressing the TRIP SET button causes the IPC to illuminate all VF displays. If a condition occurs which produces a driver warning message or if the fuel level reaches 4 gallons, all displays turn on and a message is displayed. |
• | You may recall the driver information during the display off operation by pressing the INFORMATION button. Pressing the INFORMATION button only causes the driver message center to turn on. |
The DIC buttons for the analog IPC are within a separate module called the DIC switch. The DIC switch is above the radio. A description of the button functions for the analog IPC follows.
INFO RESET: The INFO RESET button resets the message parameter display to zero.
