Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the instrument panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Assembly Removal .

  2. Object Number: 500282  Size: SH
  3. Remove the 4 fasteners (2) retaining the center brace (3) to the tie bar (4) and the floor pan.
  4. Remove the center brace (3).
  5. Remove the 6 fasteners (1) retaining the tie bar (4) to the body.
  6. Remove the tie bar (4).

  7. Remove the fastener (1) retaining the tie bar bracket (2) to the body.
  8. Remove the bracket (2).

  9. Remove the parking brake assembly. Refer to Parking Brake Lever Pedal Assembly Replacement in Park Brake.

  10. Object Number: 500278  Size: SH
  11. Remove the fasteners (2) retaining the reinforcement (1) to the body.
  12. Remove the reinforcement (1).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 500278  Size: SH
  1. Install the reinforcement (1) to the body.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the reinforcement fasteners (2).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Install the parking brake assembly. Refer to Parking Brake Lever Pedal Assembly Replacement in Park Brake.

  6. Object Number: 500283  Size: SH
  7. Install the tie bar bracket (2) to the body.
  8. Install the bracket fasteners (1).

    Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).


    Object Number: 500282  Size: SH
  9. Install the tie bar (4).
  10. Install the 6 fasteners (1) in order to retain the tie bar to the vehicle.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  12. Install the center brace (3).
  13. Install the 4 center brace fasteners (2).
  14. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  15. Install the instrument panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Assembly Removal .
