Removal Procedure

Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:

   • Air bag deployment
   • Personal injury
   • Unnecessary SIR system repairs
In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
   • Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring.
   • If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.

Caution: In order to prevent SIR deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs, do not strike the door or the door pillar in the area of the side impact sensor (SIS). Turn OFF the ignition and remove the key when performing service in the area of the SIS.

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System .
  2. Important: Mark the location of the door hinges (upper and lower) on the door.

  3. Remove the trim panel. Refer to one of the following procedures:
  4. •  Door Trim Panel Replacement
    •  Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement
    •  Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement
  5. Remove the water deflector. Refer to Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  6. Disconnect all of the electrical connectors from the door electrical components.
  7. Remove the rubber conduit from the door.
  8. Disconnect the wire harness from the door.
  9. While the door is supported, remove the hinge-to-door bolts. 
  10. With the aid of an assistant, remove the door (2).

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  1. Install the door hinge (1,3).
  2. With the aid of an assistant, position the door (2) to the body.

    Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 48 N·m (35 lb ft).

  3. Connect the wire harness to the door.
  4. Install the rubber conduit to the door.
  5. Connect all of the electrical connections to the door electrical components.
  6. Install the water deflector. Refer to Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  7. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System
  8. Install the trim panel. Refer to one of the following procedures:
  9. •  Door Trim Panel Replacement
    •  Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement
    •  Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement
  10. Adjust door if necessary. Refer to Door Adjustment .
