Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the console storage compartment. Refer to Front Floor Console Compartment Replacement .
  2. Remove the console trim plate. Refer to Console Front Trim Plate Replacement .
  3. Remove the ashtray. Refer to Ashtray Replacement .
  4. Remove the driver information switch. Refer to Driver Information Display Switch Replacement .

  5. Object Number: 493869  Size: SH
  6. Remove the radio and A/C control assembly. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment.
  7. Remove the 2 fasteners (2) that retain the console to the floor.
  8. Remove the 4 fasteners (1) that retain the console to the instrument panel.
  9. Remove the console air supply duct. Turn the duct in order to release the duct.
  10. Remove the 2 fasteners that retain the upper shift plate.
  11. Remove the shifter. Refer to Transmission Control Replacement in Automatic Transaxle.
  12. Disconnect the electrical connectors to the console.
  13. Remove the console from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the console to the vehicle.
  2. Connect the electrical connectors to the console.
  3. Install the shifter. Refer to Transmission Control Replacement in Automatic Transaxle.
  4. Install the 2 retainers to the upper shift plate.

  5. Object Number: 493869  Size: SH
  6. Install the console blower air supply duct. Turn the duct in order to push on the duct.
  7. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  8. Install the 4 fasteners (1) that retain the console to the IP.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  10. Install the 2 rear fasteners (2) that retain the console to the floor.
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  12. Install the radio/heater and A/C control assembly. Refer to Radio Replacement in Entertainment:
  13. Install the driver information switch (2) to the console. Refer to Driver Information Display Switch Replacement .
  14. Install the ashtray (2) to the console. Refer to Ashtray Replacement .
  15. Install the console trim plate. Refer to Console Front Trim Plate Replacement .
  16. Install the storage compartment. Refer to Front Floor Console Compartment Replacement .
