Installation Procedure
Caution: Foam sound deadeners must be removed from areas within 152.4 mm
(6 in) of where flame is to be used for body repairs. When
reinstalling foam sound deadeners, avoid inhaling fumes as bodily injury
may result.
Important: If damage allows, it is recommended that the strut tower rear extension (1)
be left intact and attached to the cowl to simplify wheelhouse replacement.
Drill out the appropriate welds and remove the extension from the service
part.
- Prepare mating surface.
- Check for proper fit of the wheelhouse service assembly.
- Drill 8 mm (5/16 in) plug weld holes as necessary
on the service part as noted from the original assembly.
- Position the service assembly.
- Check fit of body dimensions at strut tower locations (2).
Use three dimensional measuring equipment.
- Clean and prepare welded surfaces.
- Prime with two-part catalyzed primer.
- Apply sealers and anti-corrosion materials as necessary.
- Install all related panels and components.
