Did you perform the Rear compartment Lid Release Imoperative System Check?

  1. Place the transaxle in the PARK position.
  2. Turn the valet switch OFF.
  3. Connect the Scan Tool to the data link connector (DLC).
  4. Turn the valet lockout OFF.
  5. Press the rear compartment release switch.

Does the body control module (PZM) turn the rear compartment lid release ON?

  1. Disconnect the rear compartment lid release relay.
  2. Connect a test lamp between terminal D4 and ground, and terminal D6 to ground.

Does the test lamp light at both terminals?

  1. Connect the test lamp between terminal D4 and terminal D6.
  2. Press the rear compartment lid release switch.

Does the test lamp light?

Connect a fused jumper between terminal D6 and terminal C4.

Does the rear compartment lid open?

Replace the rear compartment lid release relay.

Observe the Scan Tool .

Does the PZM indicate that the valet switch is OFF?

Using the Scan Tool , observe the status of the PARK NEUTRAL position switch.

Does the status show that the vehicle is in PARK?

  1. Inspect the PARK NEUTRAL position switch and any related circuits.
  2. Perform any necessary repairs.

  1. Disconnect the valet switch.
  2. Connect a fused jumper from valet lockout switch connector terminal A to ground.
  3. Observe the Scan Tool .

Does the PZM indicate that the valet lockout switch is OFF?

  1. Inspect CKT 151 (BLK/WHT) for an open. Repair the circuit, if necessary.
  2. If CKT 151 is OK, replace the valet lockout switch.

Does the rear compartment lid release operate properly?

  1. Inspect CKT 1355 (DK BLU/WHT) for an open. Repair the circuit if necessary.
  2. If CKT 1355 is OK, replace the PZM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Repair the open or the short to ground in one of the following circuits:

    • CKT 40 (ORN)
    • CKT 2040 (ORN)

  1. Inspect CKT 1344 (LT BLU) for an open. Repair the circuit if necessary.
  2. If CKT 1344 is OK, replace the PZM. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Does the rear compartment lid release operate properly?

  1. Verify that the fused jumper is still connected.
  2. Disconnect the rear compartment lid release solenoid.
  3. Connect a test lamp between terminal A and ground.

Does the test lamp light?

  1. Verify that the rear compartment lid release solenoid connector is clean and tight.
  2. If the connector is OK, replace the rear compartment lid release solenoid.
