Circuit Description

The radio (IRC) receives the vehicle identification number (VIN) from the class 2 serial data line and compares the VIN with the VIN stored in the radio. If the broadcast VIN does not match the VIN stored in the radio, the Theftlock feature is enabled.

Conditions for Setting the DTC

If the broadcast VIN does not match the VIN stored in the radio, the Theftlock feature is enabled, and DTC 1780 is set as current.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The radio displays LOCKED--THEFTLOCK ACTIVE when the radio is turned ON, and stores DTC B1780 as current.

Conditions for Clearing the DTC

When the radio receives a VIN that matches the VIN stored in the radio, DTC B1780 changes to history and the Theftlock feature is disabled.

Diagnostic Aids

Use a scan tool in order to clear the THEFTLOCK mode.
