Removal Procedure

Flywheel Holder
Remove the drive belt. Refer to
Drive Belt Replacement
.
Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
Remove the right front wheel. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires and Wheels.
Remove the wheelhouse extension from the wheelhouse. Refer to
Front Bumper Fascia Extension Replacement
in Body Front End.
Remove the brace between the engine oil pan and the transmission case.
Remove the torque converter cover. Refer to
Torque Converter Cover Replacement
in Automatic Transaxle-4T80-E.
Install the
J 44214
(1).
Remove the crankshaft balancer bolt.
Support the engine assembly with a suitable jack.
Remove the nut securing the engine mount to the engine mount bracket.
Lower the engine assembly to obtain clearance for the
J 41816
below the body rail.
Place the remover pilot into the end of the crankshaft.
Remove the crankshaft balancer using the
J 41816
.
Clean and inspect the crankshaft balancer. Refer to
Crankshaft Balancer Cleaning and Inspection
.
Installation Procedure
Install the crankshaft balancer to the engine. Refer to
Crankshaft Balancer Installation
.
Raise the engine assembly into position.
Install the nut securing the engine mount to the engine mount bracket.
Tighten
Tighten the mount nut to 80 N·m (59 lb ft).
Remove the engine support jack.
Remove the
J 44214
.
Install the torque converter cover. Refer to
Torque Converter Cover Replacement
in Automatic Transaxle-4T80-E.
Install the oil pan to transmission brace.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
Install the wheelhouse extension in the wheelhouse. Refer to
Front Bumper Fascia Extension Replacement
in Body Front End.
Install the right front wheel. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
in Tires and Wheels.
Lower the vehicle.
Install the drive belt. Refer to
Drive Belt Replacement
.
