Removal Procedure

  1. Partially drain the engine coolant. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .

  2. Object Number: 475295  Size: SH
  3. Remove the two nuts (2) from the intake manifold sight shield (1).
  4. Remove the sight shield (1) from the engine.

  5. Object Number: 517972  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the surge tank inlet hose (2) from the surge tank (1).

  7. Object Number: 490598  Size: SH
  8. Remove the PCV fresh air tube (1).

  9. Object Number: 500270  Size: SH
  10. Disconnect the generator coolant hose (1) at the front of the engine.

  11. Object Number: 519814  Size: SH
  12. Disconnect the surge tank inlet hose (1) from the engine.
  13. Disconnect the generator coolant hose (3) from the heater pipe (2).

  14. Object Number: 517974  Size: SH
  15. Remove the two push nuts (1) attaching the pipe assembly to the engine.
  16. Remove the surge tank/generator coolant pipe assembly from the engine.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 517974  Size: SH
  1. Install the surge tank/generator coolant pipe assembly to the engine.
  2. Install the two push nuts (1) attaching the pipe assembly to the engine.

  3. Object Number: 519814  Size: SH
  4. Connect the generator coolant hose (3) to the heater pipe (2).
  5. Connect the surge tank inlet hose (1) to the engine.

  6. Object Number: 500270  Size: SH
  7. Connect the generator coolant hose (1) at the front of the engine.

  8. Object Number: 490598  Size: SH
  9. Install the PCV fresh air tube (1).

  10. Object Number: 517972  Size: SH
  11. Connect the surge tank inlet hose (2) to the surge tank (1).

  12. Object Number: 475295  Size: SH
  13. Position the intake manifold sight shield (1) to the engine.
  14. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  15. Install the two intake manifold sight shield nuts (2).
  16. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

  17. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
