Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 480171  Size: SH
  1. Remove the electrical connector (2) from the fluid level sensor.
  2. Drain the brake fluid from the master cylinder reservoir (1).
  3. Remove the master cylinder from the vehicle. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 176838  Size: SH
  5. Tap back the retainer pins until clear of master cylinder reservoir.

  6. Object Number: 480606  Size: SH
  7. Remove the master cylinder reservoir from the master cylinder.
  8. Remove the seals.
  9. Inspect the master cylinder reservoir for cracks or deformities. If found, replace the reservoir.
  10. Clean the reservoir with clean denatures alcohol.
  11. Dry the master cylinder reservoir with non-lubricated compressed air

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 480606  Size: SH
  1. Lubricate the new seals and the reservoir bayonets with clean brake fluid.
  2. Install the seals, making sure they are fully seated.
  3. Install the reservoir onto the master cylinder.
  4. Press straight down by hand until pin holes are aligned.

  5. Object Number: 176838  Size: SH
  6. Tap in pins to retain master cylinder reservoir.
  7. Install the master cylinder. Refer to Master Cylinder Replacement .
  8. Fill the master cylinder reservoir to full level mark.

  9. Object Number: 480171  Size: SH
  10. Install the electrical connector (2) to fluid sensor.
  11. Bleed the hydraulic system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding .
