Did you perform the Lighting Systems Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Open the rear compartment.
  3. Disconnect the rear compartment lamp.
  4. Probe the feed circuit of the rear compartment lamp with a test lamp that is connected to a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 3

Connect a test lamp between the feed circuit of the rear compartment lamp and the ground circuit of the rear compartment lamp.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

Inspect for poor connections at the rear compartment lamp. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 10

Replace the rear compartment lamp. Refer to Rear Compartment Courtesy Lamp Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 10

Repair the open in the feed circuit of the rear compartment lamp. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the ground circuit of the rear compartment lamp for a high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 10

Inspect for poor connections at the connector of the rear compartment lid release actuator. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the rear compartment lid release actuator. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Latch Replacement in Body Rear End.
