  1. Turn the ignition switch ON.
  2. Move the wiper switch to all positions and then to OFF.
  3. Disconnect the wiper/washer switch connector.

Do the wipers still operate?

Test for a short to voltage in the pigtail wires leading to the wiper/washer switch. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the wiper/washer switch. Refer to Multifunction, Turn Signal, and Hazard Switch Replacement - On Vehicle .

Measure the voltage from the washer input circuit of the wiper/washer switch connector to a good ground.

Does the voltage measure greater than the specified value?

1.0 V

  1. Reconnect the wiper/washer switch connector.
  2. Disconnect the wiper motor connector.
  3. Measure the voltage from the washer input circuit of the wiper motor to a good ground.

Does the voltage measure greater than the specified value?

1.0 V

Replace the wiper motor. Refer to Windshield Wiper Motor Replacement .

Repair the short to voltage in the washer input circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Measure the voltage from the wiper speed input circuit of the wiper/washer switch connector to ground.

Does the voltage measure greater than the specified value?

1.0 V

  1. Reconnect the wiper/washer switch connector.
  2. Disconnect the wiper motor connector.
  3. Measure the voltage from the high speed input circuit of the wiper motor to a good ground.

Does the voltage measure within the specified range?

10.5-15 V

Repair the short to voltage in the high speed input circuit of the wiper motor. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
