Removal Procedure
- Remove the intake manifold sight shield
nuts (2) from the intake manifold sight shield (1).
- Disconnect the EVAP purge solenoid electrical
connector.
- Remove the EVAP purge pipe from the EVAP purge solenoid. Refer
to
Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service
.
- Partially open the throttle.
- Remove the EVAP purge solenoid retaining bolt (2) from the EVAP
purge solenoid.
- Remove the EVAP purge solenoid (3) from the intake manifold (1).
Installation Procedure
Important: Be sure to install the new o-ring on the EVAP purge solenoid.
- Partially open the throttle.
- Install the EVAP purge solenoid (3) into the intake manifold (1).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the EVAP
purge solenoid retaining bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the bolt to 10 N·m (88 lb in).
- Allow the throttle to close.
- Connect the EVAP purge solenoid hose to the EVAP purge solenoid.
- Connect the EVAP purge solenoid electrical connector to the EVAP
purge solenoid.
- Install the intake manifold sight shield
(1) to the engine.
- Install the intake manifold sight shield nuts (2).
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 3 N·m (27 lb in).
