Power is provided to the head-up display (HUD) on CKT 741 when the ignition is ON. The HUD is grounded on CKT 351 at all times to ground G200. Power is also provided on CKT 741 to the night vision camera heater. The camera is grounded on CKT 351 to ground G200, and the camera heater circuit is grounded on CKT 151 to ground G101. The HUD control is grounded via CKT 450 to ground G201.
The instrument panel integration module (IPM) grounds the HUD active signal when the ignition is ON, the headlamps or front foglamps are on and the ambient light sensor reads dark. CKT 2352 provides this HUD active signal to the head-up display (HUD).
The head-up display (HUD) control, mounted below the headlamp switch, provides the controls to turn the HUD on or off, adjust the HUD image intensity and move the HUD image up or down on the windshield. The HUD off switch in the HUD control provides an input to the HUD on CKT 2381. When the switch is pressed, CKT 2381 grounds the night vision display off signal. The HUD control contains an image up/image down switch . The switch contacts are normally grounded. Pressing the switch down provides, on CKT 2383, battery positive voltage to the night vision display image down signal. Pressing the switch up provides, on CKT 2384, battery positive voltage to the night vision display image up signal. The HUD in turn moves the HUD image up or down by controlling a motor within the HUD. The HUD control contains a 10K ohm slider potentiometer used to adjust the HUD dimming intensity. The HUD control includes a 2K ohm resistor in series with the potentiometer. This potentiometer provides an input signal on CKT 2382 to the night vision display intensity signal. The resistance at this input varies from varies from 2K ohm (minimum switch setting) to 12K ohm (maximum switch setting).
The HUD provides power to the night vision camera via the night vision camera on input signal CKT 608. Once the HUD turns on, the HUD displays a warm-up image for 45 seconds. At that time, the camera provides a video signal on CKT 2385 and CKT 2386 to the head-up display.
