DEFINITION: Door locks do not operate from the door lock switch mounted on the inside of the driver or passenger door. This test assume that all DTCs have been diagnosed.

Did you perform the Diagnostic System Check - Power Door Systems?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Close all doors.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. With the scan tool, observe the Driver Door Lock Sw. parameter in the Driver Door Switch Inputs list, or the appropriate Passenger Door Lock Switch parameter in the appropriate Passenger Door Module Inputs list.
  5. Activate the driver (or passenger) door lock switch.
  6. Using the scan tool, observe the Driver (or Passenger) Door Lock Sw. parameter.

Does the Driver (or Passenger) Door Lock Sw. parameter change state?

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect the applicable door lock switch harness connector.
  3. Install a fused jumper between the door lock switch signal circuit and the ground circuit of the connector.
  4. Using the scan tool, observe the Driver (or Passenger) Door Lock Sw. parameter.

Does the Driver (or Passenger) Door Lock Sw. parameter change state?

Test the applicable door lock switch signal and ground circuits for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the 2 wire lock motor harness connector from the door lock actuator that did not operate.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the 2 motor circuits of the harness connector.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  5. Using the scan tool, command the appropriate door lock to the Lock and Unlock positions.

Does the test lamp illuminate with each command?

Test the lock motor circuits for opens. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections/terminal tension at the applicable door lock switch harness connector. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections/terminal tension at the applicable door lock actuator harness connector. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections/terminal tension at the driver door switch assembly (or the applicable passenger door module) harness connector. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the inoperative door lock actuator. Refer to Front Side Door Latch Replacement or Rear Side Door Latch Replacement .

Replace the applicable passenger door module or the driver door switch assembly. Refer to Door Control Module Replacement or Front Door Switch Replacement .
