Did you perform A Diagnostic System Check - Power Door Systems?

Diagnostic System Check - Power Door Systems

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Close all vehicle doors.
  3. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Activate the driver door lock switch.
  5. With the scan tool, observe the driver Door Lock Switch parameter in the Driver Door Switch Inputs list.
  6. Change the scan tool setting in order to read each of the passenger Door Module Inputs data lists
  7. Activate each of the passenger door lock switches.
  8. With the scan tool, observe each of the passenger Door Lock Switch parameters in each of the passenger Door Module Inputs as listed:
  9. • W/O V4U - Lock and unlock for the driver and passenger front doors.
    • Lock only for the rear doors.
    • W/V4U - Lock and Unlock for all doors.

Did the parameters for each door change to both the lock and the unlock states as expected?

Does the driver door parameter indicate both states?

  1. Activate the driver door lock switch.
  2. With the scan tool, observe the Driver Lock Switch parameter.

Does the Driver Lock Switch parameter change to any state other than Idle?

  1. Activate the passenger door lock switch.
  2. With the scan tool, observe the Passenger Lock Switch parameter.

Does the Passenger Lock Switch parameter change to any state other than Idle?

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect the driver door lock switch harness connector.
  3. Install a fused jumper in the harness connector, between the switch ground and the signal circuit of the lock state that did not respond.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Does the Driver Door Lock Switch parameter indicate the missing state?

  1. Turn the ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect the passenger door lock switch harness connector.
  3. Install a fused jumper in the harness connector, between the switch ground and the signal circuit of the lock state that did not respond.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.

Does the Passenger Door Lock Switch parameter indicate the missing state?

Test the ground circuit, of the inoperative switch, for an open circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the signal circuit, of the inoperative lock state to the inoperative switch, for an open circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections/terminal tension at the inoperative door lock switch harness connector. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the inoperative door lock switch. Refer to Door Lock Switch Replacement .

With the scan tool, retrieve each door modules door jamb switch states from each door modules Inputs list.

Do they all indicate OFF?

Test the door jamb switch circuit that indicates ON for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Replace the door jamb switch that indicates ON. Refer to Front Side Door Latch Replacement and Rear Side Door Latch Replacement .

  1. Choose each door lock, in the Door Lock Test application, of the Output Control application, of the Special Functions in each door modules Data list using the scan tool.
  2. Command the door lock to lock and unlock.

Does each door lock and unlock when commanding LOCK and commanding UNLOCK?

Test the door lock motor circuits of the lock(s) that do not both lock and unlock for shorts to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Repairs.

Replace the door module for the lock(s) that do not both lock and unlock. Refer to Door Control Module Replacement .

Inspect for poor connections/terminal tension at the inoperative passenger door module or driver door switch assembly harness connector. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the driver door switch assembly or passenger door module that fails to respond to the door lock switch signals. Refer to Front Door Switch Replacement or Door Control Module Replacement .
