Did you perform the Power Doors Systems Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF
  3. Open the suspect door.
  4. With a scan tool, observe the parameter of the suspect door ajar switch in the door module Inputs list:
  5. • Driver Door Ajar Sw.
    • Pass. Door Ajar Sw.
    • LH Rear Door Ajar Sw.
    • RH Rear Door Ajar Sw.

Does the scan tool indicate that the Door Ajar Sw. parameter is Off?

Go to Step 3

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the suspect door lock actuator.
  3. Connect a 3 amp fused jumper between the door ajar signal circuit of the door lock actuator and the ground circuit of the door lock actuator.
  4. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  5. With a scan tool, observe the Door Ajar Sw. parameter.

Does the scan tool indicate that the Door Ajar Sw. parameter is Off?

Test the ground circuit of the door lock actuator for an open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 10

Test the door ajar signal circuit of the door lock actuator for the following conditions:

    • An open
    • A short to voltage
    • A high resistance

Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the suspect door module. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the door lock actuator. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the suspect door module. Refer to Door Control Module Replacement .

Replace the suspect door lock actuator. Refer to Front Side Door Latch Replacement or Rear Side Door Latch Replacement .

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
