Door Lock Operation

The vehicle is equipped with power door locks. Each lock actuator is powered and controlled by the door module mounted in the individual door. The rear integration module (RIM), while it has no actual inputs or outputs related to door locking, is the master logic controller for the lock system.

When a power door lock switch is pressed, the door module that detected it will report this status via the Serial Data Class 2 line to the RIM. The RIM will then determine if locking or unlocking is permitted and if it is, will then command the door modules to LOCK or UNLOCK the doors.

Personalization features, such as the automatic door lock operation modes and the delayed locking feature are also controlled by the RIM. The features are changed by using the driver information center (DIC) or Tech 2 scan tool.

Anti-Lockout Feature

The power door locks and remote keyless entry transmitter will not work if the key is in the ignition and any door is open. The feature can be overridden by holding the drivers power door lock switch for more than three seconds. After the three seconds, the DDSA sends a Serial Data Class 2 message to the RIM indicating the override is active. The RIM, via the Serial Data Class 2, will command the door modules to lock the doors.

Central Door Unlock Description

The Central Door Unlock feature is activated when the Key Cylinder Unlock Switch is closed for approximately two seconds, or, closed twice in three seconds. The Driver Door Module will send a Serial Data Class 2 message to the RIM when it detects either of those activities. The RIM will then command the door modules to unlock the doors.
