Important: Inspect the rear window sunshade assembly for binding or mechanical failure.

Test the rear fuse block SUNSHADE Fuse.

Does the SUNSHADE Fuse test OK.

  1. Disconnect the rear window sunshade switch harness connector.
  2. Turn ON the ignition with, the engine OFF.
  3. Measure the voltage from the switch input circuit of the sunshade switch harness connector to a good ground.

Does the voltage measure within the specified range?

4.50-5.50 V

Measure the voltage between the switch input circuit of the sunshade switch harness connector and the ground circuit of the sunshade switch harness connector.

Does the voltage measure within the specified range?

4.50-5.50 V

Measure the resistance across the two terminals of the sunshade switch.

Does the resistance measure less than the specified value?

OL

  1. Measure the resistance across the two terminals of the sunshade switch.
  2. Activate the sunshade switch.

Does the resistance measure greater than the specified value?

150-250 ohms

  1. Reconnect the sunshade switch harness connector.
  2. Disconnect the sunshade motor harness connector.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the sunshade retract control circuit and the sunshade extend control circuit of the sunshade motor harness connector.
  4. Momentarily activate the sunshade switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Test the switch input circuit between the sunshade switch and the sunshade module for a short to voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the ground circuit between the sunshade module and the sunshade switch for a high resistance or an open.

  1. Turn OFF the ignition.
  2. Disconnect the sunshade module harness connector.
  3. Turn on the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  4. Measure the voltage from the battery positive voltage (B+) circuit of the sunshade module harness connector to a good ground.

Does the voltage measure less than the specified value?

9-16 V

Test the ground circuit of the sunshade module for a high resistance or an open.

Repair the open in the battery positive voltage circuit between the rear fuse block and the sunshade module.
