Subject: | Service VME - Paint Protection on Hood and Decklid |
Models: | . |
When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.
Beginning on July, 21, 2003, the Detroit - Hamtramck Assembly Plant began producing and shipping the 2004 MY Cadillac DeVille. In an ongoing exercise of improving the quality of the DeVille, the assembly plant began applying sheets of paint protection (aka wrapguard) to the hood and rear decklid of each vehicle. Brand Quality is requesting that these paint protection sheets remain on each vehicle when residing in dealer inventory, until the time of delivery. While we recognize this may not be possible for DeVilles placed in the dealers showrooms, or out on the front line, it will help ensure the remaining units are delivered free of paint mutilations. In addition, product reports are encouraged if difficulty in removing the sheets is encountered during PDI.
Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
