Subject: | Low Engine Oil Level Message On |
Models: | . |
When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.
Some 2004 Cadillac Deville and Seville 4.6L (L37) (LD8) engine may display a low engine oil level message when the level is correct.
Use the Engine Data 3 oil level switch status parameter when using SI document number 767267 "low oil level indicator always on". Engine data 3 should be used for switch status that the PCM receives.
The cause of this concern is an internal failure in the low oil level switch. If you installed a new PCM instead of the low oil level switch, the PCM would temporarily shut the message off, but the condition would be back after 3 drive cycles or when the engine is allowed to cool off.
.
