Subject: | Service VME - Inoperative Heat, Cool Seats Due to Outlet Port Blockage |
Models: | . |
When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.
As mentioned in an earlier communication, the Heated/Cooling Seats are a new option for the 2004 MY Cadillac DeVille. Because of the cooling feature, the characteristics of the heating/cooling functions are different when compared to the heated seats only found on previous model year DeVilles. One of these characteristics is that it can take up to 10 minutes for full heat/cool air to be felt depending upon outside ambient temperature. However, if a technician cannot feel any heat or cool air flowing after 10 minutes, an inspection of the thermo electric outlet port is recommended. This port is located in the front middle section of the seat cushion. Brand Quality has been advised that some vehicles may have an adhesive label (used by the suppliers prior to shipping the seats to the assembly plant) covering this port preventing the air flow. To correct, simply remove the label. Corrections have been implemented September 8, 2003 for production units.
