When servicing the vehicle with the VIN you entered, the following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

Condition/Concern:

2004 Cadillac Deville,Seville 4.6L ( LD8, L37) engine with a DTC P0171 or P0174 using a P07 PCM.

Recommendation/Instructions:

DO NOT REPLACE THE PCM - PCM REPLACEMENT WILL NOT SOLVE THE DTC P0171 OR P0174 CONCERN. Complete the SI Diagnostics to resolve possible vacuum/exhaust leaks or O2 sensor problems. If you have completed the SI Diagnostics with NTF complete the following:

  1. Contact the Techline Customer Support Center for the latest PCM calibration only if you have a Techline Version prior to 3.0 (Scheduled to be released March 8, 2004). The Techline Customer support center will be able to provide your dealership with the files required to complete the repair.
  2. If you have a Techline version that is 3.0 or greater, reprogram the PCM with this latest calibration files following normal procedure.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance. This diagnostic approach was developed for the vehicle with the VIN you entered and should not be automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
