Subject:Manual Push to Release Parking Brake Does Not Fully Release (Replace Both Rear Park Brake Cable Assemblies)

Models:2004 Cadillac DeVille Limo (RPO V4U) Hearse (RPO B9Q)

This bulletin is being revised to update the correction, parts and warranty information. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 04-05-26-001 (Section 05-Brakes).

Condition

Some customers may comment that the manual push-to-release parking brake does not fully disengage after releasing the park brake pedal.

Cause

This condition may be due to the rear park brake cable spring tension not being sufficient to overcome the friction of the park brake apply system.

Correction

Replacement of both the LH and RH rear park brake cable assemblies is required. An improved rear park brake cable assembly, P/N 10373648, is now available from GMSPO. Remove the existing LH and RH rear park brake cable assemblies and install a new cable on the LH side and a new cable on the RH side.

Refer to the replacement procedures in this bulletin.
