THE 1992-93 ELDORADO SIDE DOOR ROOF RAIL WEATHERSTRIP, P/N 3539469-70, HAS BEEN SUPERSEDED WITH THE 1994 ELDORADO SIDE DOOR WEATHERSTRIP, P/N 25636389-90 AT GM SPO. HOWEVER, THE 1994 WEATHERSTRIP IS TOO SHORT IN THE REAR LOWER VERTICAL AREA WHEN IT IS USED ON A 1992 OR 1993 ELDORADO BUILT PRIOR TO VIN BREAKPOINT 609233. THEREFORE, WHEN REPLACING THE WEATHERSTRIP ON ONE OF THE ABOVE LISTED VEHICLES, A WEATHERSTRIP SHIM KIT IS ALSO NEEDED USING THE FOLLOWING PROCEDURE:
1. REMOVE OLD WEATHERSTRIP AND AUXILIARY SEAL.
2. USE CADILLAC WEATHERSTRIP SHIM KIT, P/N 40350, FOR THIS REPAIR. THE KIT IS AVAILABLE FROM:
KENT INDUSTRIES 4500 EUCLID AVE. CLEVELAND, OH 44103 1-800-654-6333
3. USE WEATHERSTRIP ADHESIVE TO GLUE EXISTING PLUG (SEE FIGURE 1) INTO THE SHIM KIT BULB, APPROXIMATELY 90MM (3 1/2 INCH) (SEE FIGURE 2). TUCK LOOSE END OF BULB BEHIND RETAINER (SEE FIGURE 2).
4. INSTALL 1994 ELDORADO SIDE DOOR ROOF RAIL WEATHERSTRIP, P/N 25636389-90.
5. COVER SHIM KIT BULB WITH MOLDED FLAP OF THE ROOF RAIL WEATHERSTRIP (SEE FIGURE 3).
6. A 5MM HOLE MAY HAVE TO BE DRILLED FOR THE LOWER RETAINER BUTTON OF THE NEW SIDE DOOR ROOF RAIL WEATHERSTRIP (SEE FIGURE 2). USE WEATHERSTRIP AS A GUIDE FOR THE LOWER HOLE PLACEMENT (SEE FIGURE 2, ITEM 4). APPLY ANTICORROSIVE PRIMER FOR BARE METAL SURFACES ON AFFECTED AREA. INSTALL PUSH PIN, P/N 1644290.
7. REPLACE AUXILIARY SEAL, SIDE DOOR LOCK PILLAR LOWER WITH P/N 3536994 (RH), OR P/N 3536995 (LH).
