INFORMATION ON I/P CLUSTERS DIGITAL/ANALOG SHIFT INDICATOR

SUBJECT: INFORMATION ON INSTRUMENT CLUSTERS AVAILABLE ON 1992 ELDORADOS AND SEVILLES

The 1992 Eldorado and Seville instrument clusters are available in domestic digital and domestic or export analog versions.

o The digital cluster is only available with column shift and must not be field retrofitted to a console shift equipped car.

o The analog cluster is only available with full console/floor shift, and must not be field retrofitted to a column shift equipped car.

The digital cluster has a built in gear position display (PRNDL) which is driven by a cable from the column shift bowl. If fitted to a console shift car, the PRNDL in the cluster will be non-functional.

The analog cluster has no gear position display in the cluster. The PRNDL is intended to be in the console next to the gear selector. If an analog cluster is fitted to a column shift car, the vehicle will not have a PRNDL display.

For normal service requirements clusters are available through AC-Delco Service Centers. Refer to DSIB 92-I-1. AC-Delco Centers have been instructed to not ship analog clusters for vehicles which were built with digital and vice-versa.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
