SUNROOF HARD TO CLOSE/OPEN REMOVE VELCRO STRIPS

SUBJECT: SUNROOF SUNSHADE DIFFICULT TO CLOSE AND/OR OPEN

MODELS AFFECTED: 1992 ELDORADOS AND SEVILLES

Some 1992 Eldorados and Sevilles may experience a condition where the sunroof sunshade becomes difficult to close fully and/or open. This condition may be caused by loose anti-rattle Velcro strips at the rear of the sunshade. To correct this condition use the following procedure:

1. Vent glass panel.

2. Slide sunshade fully rearward.

3. Remove three screws securing shield ring to glass panel and slide shield ring fully rearward. Refer to Figure 1.

4. Remove screws retaining glass to lifter arm and remove glass panel. Refer to Figure 2.

5. Slide shield ring and sunshade fully forward.

6. Lift rear of shield to clear sunshade stops then push shield rearward.

7. Remove three anti-rattle Velcro strips from rear of sunshade. Refer to Figure 3.

NOTE: If Velcro strips are not on sunshade, push shade fully rearward and make sure Velcro strips are not in the sunshade track.

8. Slide shield forward. Lift rear of shield to clear sunshade stops then push sunshade rearward.

9. Reinstall glass panel - align up/down and fore/aft adjustment by following procedure in Section 10 of the Service Information Manual.

10. Slide shield ring forward and install three screws securing shield to the glass panel.

For warranty purposes use Labor Operation T6673 at .5 hour.
