FRONT DOOR RATTLE CONDITION DIAG./REMOVE ADJUSTER/RE-WORK

SUBJECT: DOOR RATTLE

MODELS AFFECTED: 1992 ELDORADOS

Some 1992 Eldorados built prior to VIN 604152 may exhibit a rattle condition from the front door with the window down. This condition may be caused by a loose door pad assembly, loose exterior body side molding, or may originate internally from the front lower portion of the door.

Check to ensure that the door pad is installed properly and that the molding is retained securely to the door. Utilize appropriate Labor Operations. If an internal door rattle is still present, it may be caused by the wing on the door glass adjuster contacting the door hinge reinforcement. This interference also prevents the front adjuster from being fully seated.

To correct this condition remove adjuster and rework as follows:

1. Locate side door glass in full up position.

2. Remove door trim pad and water deflector.

3. Remove upper front run channel bolt/screw.

4. Remove three window regulator sash bolts.

5. Remove front run channel bolt/screw.

NOTE: Reference 1992 Eldorado/Seville Service Information Manual Section 10-6.

6. Remove in/out window adjuster from adjuster assembly. Refer to Figure 1.

7. File both sides of the adjuster as shown. Refer to Figure 2.

8. Reinstall and readjust door window system. Refer to Service Information Manual Section on doors 10-6-17 through 10-6-23.

For warranty purposes use Labor Operations T6597 for left and T6598 for right doors at 1.0 hour.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
