Removal Procedure

Caution: To help avoid personal injury or damage to the vehicle, a bent, cracked, or damaged fan blade or housing should always be replaced.

  1. Remove the upper filler panel.
  2. Remove the air cleaner. Refer to Air Cleaner in Engine Controls.
  3. Remove the left engine torque strut. Refer to Engine Torque Strut in Engine Mechanical.

  4. Object Number: 71140  Size: SH
  5. Remove the upper radiator hose.
  6. Disconnect the upper oil cooler line from the radiator.

  7. Object Number: 72212  Size: SH
  8. Disconnect the cooling fan electrical connectors.

  9. Object Number: 69957  Size: SH
  10. Remove the cooling fans.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 69957  Size: SH
  1. Install the cooling fans.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the cooling fan bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb ft).

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Connect the cooling fan electrical connectors.
  4. Connect the upper oil cooler line to the radiator.

  5. Object Number: 71140  Size: SH
  6. Install the upper radiator hose.
  7. Install the left engine torque strut. Refer to Engine Torque Strut in Engine Mechanical.
  8. Install the air cleaner. Refer to Air Cleaner in Engine Controls.
  9. Install the upper filler panel.
