Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 70891  Size: SH
  1. Drain the engine coolant.
  2. Remove the engine sight shield.
  3. Remove the upper filler panel. Refer to Upper Filler Panel in Body.
  4. Remove the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner in Engine Controls.
  5. Disconnect the shift selector cable.
  6. Remove the throttle cable bracket
  7. Remove the throttle body. Refer to Throttle Body in Engine Controls.

  9. Remove the left engine torque strut and bracket.
  10. Remove the EGR pipe at the throttle body spacer.

  11. Object Number: 71140  Size: SH
  12. Disconnect the upper radiator hose from housing.

  13. Object Number: 71141  Size: SH
  14. Disconnect the lower radiator hose from the thermostat housing.

  15. Object Number: 69921  Size: SH
  16. Remove the water pump belt cover.
  17. Remove the water pump belt tensioner.
  18. Remove the water pump belt.
  19. Remove the throttle body spacer. Refer to Throttle Body in Engine Controls.
  20. Remove the EGR. Refer to EGR in Engine Controls.
  21. Disconnect the EGR pipe from the water crossover.
  22. Disconnect the park neutral switch.

  24. Remove the water pump cover.

  26. Remove the water crossover from the engine.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 53229  Size: SH
  1. Install the water crossover on the engine.
  2. Tighten
    Tighten the water crossover bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft). Refer to

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the water pump cover.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the water pump cover to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  5. Connect the park neutral switch.
  6. Connect the EGR pipe to the water crossover.
  7. Install the EGR. Refer to EGR in Engine Controls.
  8. Install the throttle body spacer. Refer to Throttle Body in Engine Controls.

  10. Install the water pump belt. Refer to Water Pump Belt in Engine Cooling.
  11. Install the water pump belt tensioner. Refer to Engine Cooling.
  12. Install the Water pump belt cover.

  14. Connect the lower radiator hose to the thermostat housing.

  15. Object Number: 71140  Size: SH
  16. Connect the upper radiator hose to the housing.

  17. Object Number: 72705  Size: SH
  18. Install the EGR pipe to the throttle body spacer.
  19. Install the left engine torque strut and bracket.
  20. Tighten
    Tighten the torque strut bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  21. Install the throttle body. Refer to Throttle Body in Engine Controls.
  22. Install the throttle cable bracket.
  23. Connect the shift selector cable.
  24. Install the air cleaner assembly. Refer to Air Cleaner in Engine Controls.
  25. Install the upper filler panel. Refer to Upper Filler Panel in Body.
  26. Install the engine sight shield.
  27. Refill the engine cooling system. Refer to Draining and Refilling in Engine Cooling.
