Removal Procedure
Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:
⢠| Unnecessary SIR system repairs |
In order to avoid the above conditions, observe the following guidelines:
⢠| Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring. |
⢠| If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System. |
Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing
any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to
the vehicle or its components.
- Record all of the vehicle away preset radio stations (if applicable).
Refer to
Radio/Audio System Operation
in Entertainment.
- Turn OFF all the lamps and accessories.
- Make sure the ignition switch is OFF.
- Remove the negative battery
cable from the battery. Refer to
Jump Starting in Case of Emergency
.
Installation Procedure
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Important: Clean any existing oxidation from the contact face of the battery terminal
and battery cable using a wire brush before installing the battery cable to
the battery terminal.
- Connect the negative battery cable to the battery.
Tighten
Tighten the battery ground (negative) terminal bolt to 17 NĀ·m (13 lb ft).
- Refer to
Radio/Audio System Operation
in Entertainment in order to perform the following:
⢠| Program the away preset radio stations back into the radio as
recorded at the beginning of the procedure. |
⢠| Set the clock to the current time. |
