Transmission Fluid Leak at the Lower Transmission Cooler Line (Replace Fitting and Lower Cooler Line with Inverted Flare Type)

Condition
It has been noted that the subject vehicles may have a small transmission fluid leak from the quick connect fitting at the case cover. The leak is actually noticed between the transmission case cover quick connect cooler fitting and the cooler line connection interface.
Cause
This specific leak is a severe cold temperature related condition. This interface will only leak for a brief moment when the vehicle is shifted into Drive and/or Reverse, and at a very low sump temperature. It has been determined that replacing the leaking quick connect fitting and/or lower cooler line with a new quick connect fitting and/or lower cooler line of the same type will not fix a leak experienced under the severe cold conditions described above.
Correction
Verify that the vehicle being worked on is a 2001 model, and has a 4T80-E (RPO MH1) automatic transmission with quick connect style cooler fittings. Replace the quick connect type transmission case cover cooler fitting with an inverted flare type fitting. Replace the lower cooler line with the threaded type fitting listed below for the vehicle being serviced.
