This bulletin is being issued to revise the Washer Pump/Reservoir
Replacement procedure in the Wipers/Washer Systems sub-section of the Service
Manual. Please replace the current information in the Service Manual with
the following information.
The following information has been updated within SI2000. If you are
using a paper version of this Service Manual, please make a reference to this
bulletin on the affected page.
Removal Procedure
- Remove the air filter housing. Refer
to Air Cleaner Assembly Replacement in Engine Controls-4.6L.
- Reposition the powertrain control module.
- Remove the upper mounting screw securing the washer solvent container
to the upper fender rail.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the
Vehicle in General Information.
- Remove the front bumper fascia (2).
Refer to Bumper Replacement - Front in Bumpers.
- Remove the secondary air injection pump. Refer to Secondary Air
Injection (AIR) Pump Replacement in Engine Controls-4.6L.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors
from the level sensor and washer pump.
- Drain the washer solvent container into a suitable container.
- Remove the washer pump hose.
- Remove two nuts securing the washer solvent container to the body
rail.
- Remove the washer solvent container from the vehicle.
- Remove the washer pump from the washer
solvent container.
- Remove the washer solvent level sensor from the washer solvent
container.
Installation Procedure
- Install the washer solvent level sensor
onto the washer solvent container.
- Install the washer pump onto the washer solvent container.
- Position the washer solvent container to the body rail.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
- Install the washer solvent container with two nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the two nuts to 5 N·m (44 lb in).
- Connect the electrical connectors.
- Connect the washer solvent hose to the washer pump.
- Install the secondary air injection pump. Refer to Secondary Air
Injection (AIR) Pump Replacement in Engine Controls-4.6L.
- Install the front bumper fascia (2).
Refer to Bumper Replacement - Front in Bumpers.
- Lower the vehicle.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices.
- Install the upper mounting screw to the upper fender rail.
Tighten
Tighten the screw to 5 N·m (44 lb in).
- Reposition the powertrain control module.
- Install the air filter housing. Refer to Air Cleaner Assembly
Replacement in Engine Controls-4.6L.
- Fill the washer solvent container.
